Humble ISD campuses and buildings will be closed on Friday, April 7, in observance of Good Friday. Classes for all students resume on Monday, April 10.
2023-2024 PRE-K AND KINDERGARTEN PRE-REGISTRATION
PRE-KINDERGARTEN
Families enrolling students in Pre-Kindergarten are invited to attend a registration day at the Old Lakeland Elementary on Saturday, April 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Old Lakeland Elementary is located at 1500 Montgomery Lane in Humble. While pre-registering in person, families will be able to complete a new student registration form and verify eligibility. Information will also be available in regards to transportation, campus locations for Pre-Kindergarten programs, language testing, and more. 2023-2024 KINDERGARTEN ROUNDUPS
Humble ISD schools have scheduled open houses or Kindergarten Roundups during the month of April to help parents learn about the Kindergarten program and registration process. Students must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2023, to qualify for Kindergarten.

Come see us at the Kindergarten Roundups at your school and join the coolest club in town! We would love to share with you how the Humble ISD Education Foundation supports our students and educators. Join the club for $20 and your child will receive a Kinder Club shirt with his/her graduation year and a drawstring backpack with educational resources to get them ready for success in kindergarten. ELM GROVE ELEMENTARY PLAYGROUND COMMUNITY OPEN HOUSE, APRIL 14
Humble ISD invites families to a Playground Dedication and Open House from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday, April 14, at Elm Grove Elementary School, 2815 Clear Ridge Drive in Kingwood.
Elm Grove Elementary will celebrate its new treehouse themed playground. The public is invited to a brief dedication ceremony at 5 p.m. on April 14. Students from Elm Grove Elementary will sing a song and perform a percussion piece as a part of the ceremony. The Elm Grove PTA will be providing snow cones.

SAN JACINTO BAYOU GREENWAY RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY, APRIL 15
On Saturday, April 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., come celebrate the newest segment of San Jacinto Bayou Greenway with Houston Parks Board and partners at Forest Cove Community Center, located at 1025 Marina Drive, Houston, TX 77339. Public parking can be found along the street and on the tennis courts behind the community center.
Enjoy free tacos from local restaurant El Jimador, and don’t forget to bring your bike and helmet for a guided ride along the new greenway. A DJ will be spinning tunes throughout the event, and we encourage you to share this invitation with your friends and family.

SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT, APRIL 15
A Scholastic Chess Tournament will be held at Riverwood Middle School on Saturday, April 15. Participation is open to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12. Parents can enter their children into the chess tournament online. Most participants will need to choose “Tournament Entry and USCF Registration” from the drop-down menu because being a US Chess Federation member is required.
HARTA SCHOOL BOARD FORUM, APRIL 18
Humble Area Retired Teachers Association (HARTA) is hosting an Humble ISD School Board Forum from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, at Humble High School. Come meet the candidates for Humble ISD School Board positions 2, 6 & 7. A livestream of the Candidate Forum will be provided by TexanLive.
School Board Election is Saturday, May 6.

Join the AHS MCJROTC at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, at Atascocita High School for the 9th Annual Eagle Dash 5K Mud Run. Come enjoy the family-friendly race and vendor booths. Proceeds will go to the MCJROTC program and Camp Hope – PTSD Foundation of America.

FBI HOUSTON TEEN ACADEMY, APPLY BY MAY 5
FBI Houston is currently accepting applications for its 2023 Teen Academy, a one day program that gives high school students an inside look at the FBI. Teen Academy will take place from 8:15 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at the FBI Houston field office. This event gives high school students a comprehensive look into the FBI during an eight-hour block of demonstrations and instruction provided by FBI agents and professional staff. Students are provided with multiple presentations delving into topics such as forensic evidence collection, FBI SWAT capabilities, and a rare view into the day-to-day operations of a large FBI office. All incoming high school juniors and seniors are eligible to apply.

At the January 10, 2023 Board of Trustees meeting, the 2023-2024 District Calendar was approved. The approved calendar closely resembles this year’s calendar to support consistency for students, parents and staff.

The YMCA After School Program makes the most of your child’s after school time by offering active learning opportunities designed to engage and expand young minds. After school care is offered Monday through Friday from school dismissal through 6:30 p.m. at all Humble ISD elementary schools.
